About

Welcome to Fruitful Beauty & Co., where our passion for healthy beauty meets our faith in living a fruitful life in Christ! Founded by Alexa Troutman, who has passion for helping women see beauty in a different way. Not just focusing on the beauty on the outside but truly focusing on the beauty that comes from being a God fearing woman!

Our mission is to provide healthy effective beauty products in a different way from the world, encouraging women to live fruitfully for Christ, and not allowing our beauty to be vain. Proverbs 31:30

At Fruitful Beauty & Co. we offer a luxurious range of skincare products made in small batches. We work with a diverse women owned lab, who specialize in organic and natural skincare ingredients made for different ethnicities. As they help us to create bases, we then add in different fruits, vegetables, and plant extracts and oils to target certain skin concerns.

Why Glass? We use glass packaging, only made in the US. As a Mama of four kids I’ve become more cautious in using safe products all around when I can. Glass is more recyclable, doesn’t leach harsh chemicals, like plastics. Using products on our faces, it’s important to us we use safe packaging. Glass also keeps our natural and organic ingredients fresh. Our products are made with love and infused with ingredients that God has given us on this Earth. We do all of our own packaging and labeling in our home.

Alexa’s Story

Throughout my life I struggled with my skin and beauty. I struggled with acne most of my life. I started working in the beauty industry when I was 15 years old. I loved being creative and connecting with women. After high-school I went away to college, to study nutrition, fashion, and dance. Not sure of what I wanted to do. As a young single mother away at college, I freaked out after 2 1/2 years, went back home to Chicago and entered cosmetology school! As a cosmetologist I started to get more into skincare, because of my skin issues. Working in leadership and as a makeup artist for Sephora I was able to learn about ingredients and more about skincare products. I had a hard time finding the right products that would keep my skin from breaking out. I would wear a lot of make up to try and hide it. I was extremely shameful of my skin. I would spend a lot of time focusing on my outward beauty, more than I focused on my relationship with God. I started to believe the lies of the enemy, that because of my trauma and hardships in my childhood and life my outward appearance mattered in ordered to be loved. My obsession with beauty became a way to hide from shame.

After getting married, working in salons, I started my own business doing freelance makeup and hair. Then opening my own salon suite, as a national hair color artist. I loved the education aspect along with being creative. I started to really become intrigued with ingredients. When I decided to start my own beauty business in 2016 I knew I wanted to help inspire and encourage women on a deeper level. I just didn’t know what that would really look like.

While being involved in church, sharing my story from my broken childhood and betrayal trauma in my marriage with other women. I knew God was calling me to inspire women on a deeper level. I knew it was suppose to be more than just doing hair and makeup. He was showing me slowly.

God started giving me visions about creating a faith based business. I believe He used my gifts and creativity to connect with women and share my story for His glory! I am grateful for the years of learning about beauty products, ingredients and the importance of healthy ingredients. God was doing something throughout those years.

I started my business as Alexa.Rae Beauty in 2016. During the world shut down, God called me to walk away from doing hair and makeup! That was hard because I worked so hard for it! I continued making products and selling them.

During my fourth pregnancy, God then pulled me away from my products. I knew I needed to focus on my home and family. That needed to be the main priority. I didn’t know God wanted to do a new thing in my business, in the future. During that time away I continued serving women in ministry and working on my trauma recovery coaching license. I didn’t know how God would use it all! I started to feel confused. After praying God would slowly give me visions.

He started showing me that He wanted me to use the trauma and trials in my life to encourage women to grow closer to Him. He showed me how He wanted me to intertwine it all together! The world tells us to become obsessed with how we look. The enemy feeds us lies about our appearances. He feeds us lies about our trauma, pain, and heartache. We don’t have to believe them. We don’t have to compare ourselves when we live fruitful lives for Him!

What if we used beauty products in a healthy balanced way? Not in a way to become obsessed with our looks or to completely change them. We will all grow old and that is how God created us. Our confidence comes from Him alone. For me this isn’t only a business or brand but a ministry and community.

In search for a name, God brought me to the Bible verse Proverbs 31:30 as I was reading Proverbs. “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised" Reading this I started to think about the power of living by the Fruits of the Spirit. I started to vision beauty being the fruit we produce instead of our looks. I want to create a community for women to live more fruitful lives.

My prayer is that you will feel as though you don’t have to keep up with the world. That the fruit you produce is more important. My prayer is that you will grow to be the woman God wants you to be! We have a loving Father who loves us and wants us! Let’s live fruitful lives that produce good fruit in our lives, where we aren’t defined by our beauty but who we are in Christ!

Thank you for coming along!
